CALTRANS PROJECT MANAGEMENT HANDBOOK. 4TH ED., REV. 1

This document presents an overview of the basic concepts guiding project management at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). It first discusses the basic concept of a project and project management. A project's lifecycle is then reviewed. This is followed by a discussion of project processes, including process groups and knowledge areas such as project integration management time management, and risk management. The people involved in a project process are described as well as their roles and responsibilities. The document concludes with a discussion of some of the tools involvement in project management such as a project management plan, project charter, workplan, and the different information systems involved. A glossary of terms used and a list of acronyms are included.
