THE BANNERJI PROTOCOLS – A New Method of Treatment with Homeopathic Medicines

THE BANERJI PROTOCOLS was written specifically to show how “…treatment with homeopathic medicines can be simplified, standardized and made more acceptable…of present-day needs to comply with standard protocols in medical and allied sciences…” (ix) Using Prasanta Banerji’s standardized “…treatment protocols for every disease as per conventional diagnosis…he also realized that specific potencies and dosage patterns could also be determined…” (xvii), definitely a non-classical approach to practicing homeopathy. “The Banerji Protocols are a new system of Medicine, in which Specific Homeopathic Medicines are prescribed for Specific Diagnosis of Disease without considering the individual person…” (xviii), a far cry from what Hahnemann offered to the world with homeopathy. But all sciences evolve, and have their offshoots, and the success of their treating “…1000 to 1200 patients every day…at their free clinic, in Kolkata…they helped make the Banerji Protocols a mode of medical treatment for the masses.” (xix)

Chapters cover treatments such as: cancer, renal failure, blood pressure, plus a final chapter on “A Protocol of Ultradilute Medicines for Application in Space Missions and Extraterrestrial Settlements.” (vii) Putting aside the obvious differences between these protocols and Hahnemann’s methods, it is interesting to read of the Banerjis’ success with their treatments. In treating cancer, for instance, they work with patients who are already taking the allopathic route, helping them to “…seek relief from the various side effects of conventional chemotherapy and radiation…” (4), but the majority of their patients “…take only our treatment without any conventional treatments…customized according to the location and tissue type…” (4) There are protocols for each individual type of cancer, offering specific first, second, and third line medicines. It is rather like reading a cookbook, but when their system works to relieve suffering, then I concur that it should be offered to the world.

Chapter two branches off into treatments for: acne, rosacea, rhinitis, alopecia, Alzheimer’s disease, anal fissures, appendicitis, autism, cerebral palsy, burns, congenital heart disease, Crohn’s disease, epilepsy, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, lupus, and other serious diseases.

The last chapter addresses a topic that I have not seen anywhere else: “A Protocol of Ultradilute Medicines for Application in Space Missions and Extraterrestrial Settlements” (149). Dealing with such symptoms as: acute radiation, problems due to lunar dust, atrophy of anti-gravity muscles, and other symptoms associated with interspace travel and living, makes for extremely interesting reading. The dosage patterns are separated into “…pre-flight…on board the space ship…post-flight…lunar settlements…” (159) In this chapter the authors include a section on conceptualizing an “Ultradilute Medicine Center on the Moon…” (160), extending a concept of extraterrestrial living that is close to the hearts of many here on earth.

As of yet I have not tried the Banerji protocols in my own practice, but am very glad to have this book in my library. It might come in handily when other tried and true methods simply do not work. The authors report that they have had much success with their protocols, so this is possibly a worthy book to own, although its hefty price tag can be a deterrent. As an endnote, the books will be on sale at Nimisha Parekh’s booth at the 2018 Joint Homeopathic Conference; she invites everyone to stop by and say hello.
